DonKeY

So I have looked at this drawing for as far back as I can remember in the various houses that I lived in growing up in upstate NY. I was very drawn to it, but I also found it haunting. Walking up the dark staircase to bed at night, it was peering out at me. It's eyes seemed to move when I passed it. I don't remember all the locations it hung because my damn parents moved so much, but I remember it at the homestead hanging on the wall leading up the staircase.  

Later I would find out that the artist of this charcoal was my great grandmother, Heyltje. When my parents moved south, I made sure it was in my possession. That donkey still stares at me as I work in my shop. I'm not as afraid of it as I used to be, but sometimes I still feel it's damn eyes following me.....
